[A recent conversation with Shaun- a bit of an unrelated one to what's on his mind, it was about sewing of all things- has got Chihiro thinking as he works on his PokeGear tonight, reviewing some strings of code that would be totally meaningless to most that he offered to Zip to play around with. The Porygon accepted the challenge with an enthusiasm that was almost adorable, really, along with serving to keep him busy for the past month.
His newly evolved Leavanny has been busy too, mostly interested in learning how to make clothing. Actual clothing that her trainer could wear. Naturally nothing had particularly been produced that would be suitable for a Pokemon to wear, much less a person, but nevertheless Chihiro is happy to be her model whenever she's gotten something done that she wants him to try on. Thank goodness for locks on doors, that's all he can say.
She'd been sticking to easy things, but she wanted to make full outfits. Most notable was her tendency to try to shape out patterns in spools of fabric that Chihiro bought for her for both skirts and pants for him to choose between. He always let her make the final decision, always. Chihiro's Pokemons' happiness always came first, it seemed.
Somehow, all of this culminates in a text to the network:]
Have you done anything recently that you could say you were particularly proud of? Maybe some sort of achievement or milestone that you have been trying to reach for a long time. Perhaps something you've been working to get over, and finally managed to overcome it.
You may respond anonymously if you would like...I am just curious to hear what you all have to say.
[Perhaps others have had more luck in that area than he has.]

GOTCHA
They are very intelligent, aren't they?
Re: GOTCHA
[SDFJSKGsaF what is this strange emotion running through my code
could it be
bashfulness...]
refuting assertion
semantic library is estimated 0.007% complete
thank you
[Awwww. c:]
Speaking of, that's sorted out. I'm not usually keen to talk about it, because the thing I'm most proud of is also something I feel like a fool for having to be proud of to begin with, but you're no telltale, are you?

Zip is just going to...make a note to recall this number. Perhaps he will text it sometime. ..Maybe this Porygon enjoys the fine art of binary.
..yes.]
Oh no, of course. I understand. I wouldn't tell anyone, ever.
[Anything and everything he hears due to this post to the network is highly personal, and he would never dare to let any of that get spread around.]

Before I came here I couldn't read or write but for a few odd words. It was normal where I came from. Still can't do either well or quickly enough to use the Pokegear without its help in reading aloud and typing out what I say. Burroughs is a quicker study than I am, it's nearly taken over that duty already.
But I'm learning. And it's odd, because on one I'm proud to finally read out a sign or a posted notice on my own, and on the other reading is so common here that it's strange I think so much of it. I've never made a habit of letting shame cut too deep, but it's strange what too many a pitying glance from who should be your equals can do, isn't it?
Not that it's enough to give up on trying. It's incredible what freedom reading gives you that I'd never have realized otherwise.

It is great to hear that you have been able to make such progress with your learning. I hadn't really thought about it much before now, but you're right. It is something that I am sure that all of us take for granted at some time or another.
But you are learning and improving, and that is what matters.
