There is something I have been thinking about for a while, so I wanted to get some opinions from others about it.

The PokéGear has a lot of useful functions. Some of them are pretty standard, like the Pokédex, Map, or Radio, and most of us use the PokéGear connect to speak to the Network like I am doing right now. And of course you can play games or listen to music on it, too.

The Gear is useful for both trainers and breeders when it comes to having ready information on Pokémon, but I think most of us do tend to use it mostly for communication purposes. But that's why I wanted to ask...

Are there any sorts of applications that you think might be useful additions to the PokéGear? Something that could be helpful for you as a trainer, or breeder...or possibly just something you would like for recreational purposes, maybe.

All of them sounds great! I think I would prefer the tag system and the universal translator more. Because it'd be easier to browse through posts and we would need to understand each other more.

More games will always come in the future at any time.

Will the translator be text-based, or we can add in audio translations?

I agree! I'm not sure how the translator would work exactly, but I think it would be easier to start with text and work from there. It would need a lot of testing, and if that part of it could be perfected the audio could follow.

As for the tag system, I think that one is the most promising. It sounds like it could be an incredibly useful addition, since I know I have wanted to look for specific posts at times...especially when I'm looking to give away eggs.

It could be like how Ping Translate would work. There would be a massive database of words and phrases in many different languages to find and match up. For new words, it can connect and search online for similiar words. It wouldn't be entirely accurate, but it should help give us a general meaning!

And it is. I sometimes scroll past posts when I don't have anything to say to them. It can also help with finding posts where people is asking for aid or advice.

Yes, exactly. It really wouldn't need to be totally accurate, so much. Just having some way of translation would be better than nothing, after all.

That could turn out to be a very important addition, concerning someone who needed help, for example. It could mean the difference between their problem getting resolved quickly, or something preventable happening because someone didn't see their post in time.

Right. Or maybe we can include an optional notification system. Sending you a message any time someone post in a specific or related tag.

Oh...that's a very good idea. That way you wouldn't even have to search through all those posts, so long as people tagged theirs correctly.

Uh huh. Of course, there'd be people who didn't, but that's a pretty normal thing to expect. Plus, because we use the PokeGear a lot for communication, we would check our messages first.

Yes, that's to be expected. But I think enough people would use it correctly that it would be worth it, don't you think?

It'll definitely be worth it. It'd be a little closer to message boards and mailing lists, which is nice.

Mmm...I'm not sure yet. I guess it depends on what other suggestions I get, because a lot of them have been good ones so far.
